Meet Keith Springer
Author of Facing Goliath: How to Triumph in the Dangerous Market Ahead.
My interest in radio goes back to my earliest days in the investment business in the mid 1980′s. When I was a young pup just starting out, I used to drive around and listen to the financial shows on the radio. I really admired the Dj’s who could take such an incredibly difficult and complex subject and pass it along to people in a easy to understand format all the while keeping it interesting as well as fun. It was a great way for me to learn about the rapidly changing economy, the intricacies of the markets and the financial business in general. Of course, there was no internet back then, so I had to utilize my time as efficiently and effectively as possible.
That is exactly what I am doing with my show, Smart Money. I want to utilize the vast knowledge I have collected in my 28 years of professionally managing portfolios for individuals and institutions worldwide, and present it to the listener in a compelling easy to understand format so that’s it is fun as well as educational. While doing so, I will make two promises: first that it is always “in plain English”. I don’t know about you, but I hate those people and shows that are pompous and talk in industry jargon no one can understand. Second, that’s its fun and never boring. I want to have fun doing it and I want my listeners to have fun on the ride with me.
It took me years of coaxing to finally get the nerve to do a live weekly broadcast, but I wanted to make sure I had what it takes. I now know I can deliver. My professional financial experience spans over four decades. I started back in 1985 when Ronald Reagan was President, with Shearson Lehman Brothers in Boston Ma, where I saw the Dow Jones cross 1300, (not 13 thousand), for the first time. In 1987, I moved to Merrill Lynch following an invitation to attend their illustrious financial advisor training academy. I finally got tired of shoveling snow and in 1991 I moved to sunny California where I live today with my son Josh who is a senior at Christian Brothers High School, getting ready to head off to college.
